A Day Trip To Louisville

This  month has flown by, and we have been busy! Baseball practices have started, Jonathan continues with karate, lots going on at school as the school year nears its end, and we're busy at home.
On spring break, we took a day trip to Louisville. My nephew lives there and he was our chauffeur and tour guide once we arrived. First stop: the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory.  It was interesting and fun! Some pictures from the museum ( no photography was allowed in the factory):

We had lunch at an Italian restaurant downtown, then our next stop was the Louisville Science Center. Fun!

Next up: a trip to the river to see some barges pass thru a lock and some time at a riverside park.

It was a great day, even if we did arrive home tired!

Hot Wheels Fun At The Library

Spring break started with the library's annual Hot Wheels Races Extravaganza. Last year was the first year we attended, and Jonathan couldn't wait to go this year! It is always held on the first Monday of spring break.
The room is transformed into little boy heaven! Little girls, too, but the boys especially get into all the races and neat track set ups.

I was surprised when I looked out and saw this:

Yes, they brought a real race car into the library!

The kids were allowed to get inside the car. That was the highlight of the morning for Jonathan!

After the races and the experience of being a "race car driver", we had lunch with friends. It was the perfect start to spring break!

My Blue Heaven

If you live in Kentucky, you live with basketball. Love it or hate it, basketball will have some impact on your life, even if it's just in the form of the conversation that surrounds you in the month of March....wait, make that the entire college basketball season. This year, Kentucky was well represented in the NCAA Championship Tournament by sending not one but two teams to the Final Four: the Louisville Cardinals and the University of Kentucky Wildcats.
However, most of the Bluegrass state "bleeds blue". We are known as The Big Blue Nation, and we love our Wildcats!!! I feel safe in saying no other team in college basketball could top the loyalty of UK fans, it simply can't be done.
Right now, we are in Blue Heaven! Congratulations to the National Men's NCAA champs: Coach Cal and his 2012 University of Kentucky Wildcats!!

Spring Break!

Jonathan's spring break started after school on Friday! We are both looking forward to it. Last week was rough, with a virus hitting the household. Jonathan missed his first day of school this year, and I spent the latter part of the week feeling miserable. I'm glad we are both feeling better for his week off.
The week-end was spent catching up on housework, with time out for a litte Easter egg  hunt at a local park. This morning we are off to the library for the annual Hot Wheels extravaganza, Jonathan's favorite! Tomorrow he has his semi-annual trip to the dentist, and then we will see what kind of fun we can find for the remainder of the week.
Do you stay at home or take a trip during spring break? A trip would have been lovely, and although we will be having a "stay-cation", we'll be making the most of a school-free week!
