99 Bottles Of......

Here's how I've spent a couple of hours this afternoon. I now have 65 of these.

Summer "Homeschooling"

Summer is for relaxing the rules just a little. Staying up a little later, eating a little more ice cream, spending a lazy afternoon doing nothing (I wish!).

However, I don't want my 4 year old (and I can only say 4 year old for 2 more days, so I'm going to while I can!) to lose the skills he learned this past year in preschool. I want him to start kindergarten at the top of his game and excited to learn. So, to keep him interested, we do (almost) daily worksheets. I bought some workbooks at the Dollar Tree, but most of the time I print a worksheet or two from this great website, education.com.

He found this one on the desk and did it all by himself, then brought it to me. He was quite proud of himself!

Fortunately, he loves learning new things, so this is fun, not work, for him.

The Man Of The Hour

What would a science party be without Einstein? I have a counter along one side of my garage, which is where the kids' experiments will be set up. Over the counter is my Einstein wall, with several posters. I love his quotes, such as "I have no special talents. I am only passionately curious."

Summer Fun List

It's easy to forget all of the little things that make summertime fun for a child. The days are long when you are five and Jonathan has no friends that live nearby. There is a lot I have to do to keep the house running smoothly and keep the antique business going. I can't always stop to play, so I try to fit in some things to make the days a little more fun.
I made a list and put in on the refrigerator as a reminder. Most of the things on it are low cost or free, with a few special things thrown in, such as an overnight trip. Season passes make it easy to go to the zoo on the spur of the moment if we happen to have a nice day for it. Today would have been perfect, in fact, but I'm much too busy with getting ready for Saturday's party to leave home for a whole day!
What do you do to make summer fun for your family?

What A Well-Dressed Boy Wears To A Science Party

I have been trying since January to get this cool "Science is Awesome" shirt for Jonathan. The Museum Center finally got them in this past week, just in time for the party! Of course, all scientists need a lab coat.
